Dr. Susan Gentile

PASCD President'S Award

Mr. Scott Pyne


PASCD Outstanding Curriculum leadership award

We are excited to announce that Mr. Scott Pyne, Director of Educational Technology, Curriculum, and Instruction for the Northern Lehigh School District, has been awarded the 2024 Outstanding Curriculum Leadership Award. This prestigious honor recognizes his transformative contributions to curriculum development, exceptional leadership, and initiatives that positively impact schools and students.

Mr. Pyne’s leadership has driven meaningful change in curriculum and instruction within his district. He established a four-year curriculum cycle, aligning content across grades and subjects to ensure coherence and rigor. He also led the adoption of the Amplify CKLA curriculum, utilizing a blended learning model to support teachers through professional development rooted in the Science of Reading.

His innovative approach extends to integrating technology and artificial intelligence into education. Mr. Pyne implemented AI-driven tools like chatbots to enhance teacher collaboration and reflective practices while advocating for AI’s potential at statewide educational conferences. His strategic vision and commitment to addressing student needs are evident in his leadership leveraging ESSER funds for summer learning programs.

Beyond his district, Mr. Pyne serves as Vice President for the Eastern Region of PASCD, reflecting his broader influence and dedication to advancing education in Pennsylvania.

We are excited to announce that Dr. Crystal Gajkowski, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for the Southern Columbia Area School District, has been awarded the 2024 Outstanding Research and Publication Award. This prestigious honor recognizes her significant contributions to educational research and her exceptional chapter, "Can Technology Contribute to Physical Activity? A Case for Utilizing Technology in PE Instruction," published in Preparing Pre-Service Teachers to Integrate Technology in K-12 Classrooms: Standards and Best Practices by IGI Global.

Dr. Gajkowski’s work presents a compelling case for leveraging technology in physical education to enhance learning and promote lifelong physical activity. Her research provides actionable strategies that empower educators to transform physical education meaningfully.
