Pre-Conference A: Sunday, 1:00pm to 4:00pm:
"What’s your curriculum story? Developing a learning journey that is clear and compelling to students and their families."
Learn how to revitalize any course by drafting a curriculum course narrative with meaningful opportunities for student voice, co-creation, social construction and self discovery. Participants should come with an existing curriculum or professional learning experience. We will be using a narrative template designed by Allison Zmuda and Heidi Hayes Jacobs to craft the storyline.
Please note - participants have the opportunity to earn 40 Act 45 PIL hours by attending this pre-conference, attending select sessions at the conference, and participating in online, asynchronous activities through the "Student Centered Classroom Academy."
Pre-Conference B: Sunday, 1:00pm to 4:00pm
"Student Leadership and Campus Literacy!"
No matter what type of campus you work on the importance of leadership and literacy cannot be forgotten.
In this pre-conference workshop, Todd will spend 3 intensive hours with you helping you understand how to utilize EVERY student on your campus to lead. Whether it's introverts or extroverts. He'll help you learn how to tell your school story via social media interns, empower your students through school ambassadors, build up your parent/teacher conferences (and make them student led!), and so much more.
But on top of that, Todd knows that readers are leaders. To create that on your campus you have to have a school building that helps students fall in love with reading. Whether it's book prom, the secret society or readers, staff book studies, simple campus-wide changes, principal book club, or more! You won't want to miss this treasure trove of ideas!
Please note - participants have the opportunity to earn 40 Act 45 PIL hours by attending this pre-conference, attending select sessions at the conference, and participating in online, asynchronous activities through the "When Kids Lead Academy."
