Barbara E. Davis - President, Pennsylvania ASCD
Barbara E. Davis has the experience of more than 24 years in public education. She is currently the Assistant Superintendent for the Eastern Lebanon County School District. Barb served the Tulpehocken Area School District in various positions over twelve years including Assistant to the Superintendent, Director of Curriculum and Technology, Classrooms for the Future Coach, and teacher. She taught secondary mathematics at Wyomissing Area Junior-Senior High School and at Leonardtown Middle School in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. Combined, she spent more than 14 years teaching students to love mathematics.
Barb has also served on the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Math Advisory Committee to provide input into the assessment items selected for both the Pennsylvania State System of Assessment (PSSA) and the Keystone Exams. She presented at two Governor’s Institutes for Mathematics Educators and was an adjunct professor at Alvernia University in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Her growth into an educational leader began by attending Lock Haven University and Bloomsburg University as an undergraduate and receiving a BS in Education from Bloomsburg University in 1993. She returned to Bloomsburg to earn a MS in Instructional Technology where she also earned a certificate as an Instructional Technology Specialist. After attending the University of Scranton she received a second master’s degree in Educational Administration. She also attended Arcadia University where she earned a Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility. Barb is currently enrolled at Neumann University where she hopes to earn her Ed.D in Educational Leadership.
Pennsylvania ASCD has been at the center of Barb’s professional network during her administrative career. She served as the Eastern Region President Elect and President and has been part of the PASCD Executive Board for several years. Supporting the organization over the last several years, she served on the Conference Committee, was Curriculum Chair, and served the last year as President-Elect. Barb believes that PASCD is the premier professional organization for educators in Pennsylvania and is proud to be serving as President. The networking, support, and professional development that is provided by PASCD is second to none.
