DESCRIPTION:

Earn forty (4) Act 45 hours through the Online Designing Personalized Professional Learning Experiences Academy.

In a time when our lives continue to become more personalized - through custom ads, personal shoppers, and movie and book recommendations - our professional learning experiences for educators have not kept pace. In too many districts and schools, teachers continue to participate in one size fits all “sit and get” professional development sessions. In this course, we will explore innovative practices in professional learning to design more personalized experiences that empower teachers to invest in their own growth. Planning tools, models and collaborative time will be provided to leave you feeling motivated to put your plan into action.

This asynchronous course is divided into four units that provide a roadmap for Personalized Professional Learning in schools and/or in school districts to benefit student achievement. The four units are:

  1. Voice – Establish a vision for growth
  2. Co-Creation – Build a personalized professional learning model
  3. Social Construction – Facilitate personalized learning experiences
  4. Self-Discovery – Create a culture that values learning for all and expands the growth vision

As a result of this program, participants should know the following:
  • How a strong vision creates the mindset, culture, and the relationships to empower teachers to use innovative strategies that personalize all learning.
  • The impact of leadership on student learning and achievement.
  • A variety of strategies which will work with all stakeholders of the learning community to understand and meet the needs of their unique community.
  • How instructional technology can be used as means to improve student learning through increased engagement in the classroom.
  • That building innovative programs requires shared leadership as well as an understanding of the contemporary technology tools.
  • The impact of purposeful professional development opportunities to encourage growth and open doors for student exploration and learning outside our classroom walls.
  • How to apply the personalized professional learning model for your district or schools.
