Description:
The number of English learners (EL) has been rising steadily in recent years; there are now over 12 million EL students in classrooms across the United States. Educators and technologists alike should approach digital learning with the unique needs of English learners in mind. Utilizing U.S. Department of Education toolkits, this presentation will offer five guiding principles for educators to support this effort. It will explore new ways of working with and supporting English learners by clarifying what you should know, what you should ask, and what you should consider doing when using or building educational technology to support emergent bilingual students through technology.
