Description:
While teachers are central to student success at school, teachers alone can't and shouldn't be expected to be the answer to ameliorating students’ learning, behavior, and emotional problems. It is especially evident in schools where large numbers of students are not doing well that teachers need student and learning supports in the classroom and schoolwide in order to address the many barriers interfering with learning and teaching. Currently, however, student/learning supports are fragmented and marginalized in prevailing approaches to school improvement and are too limited in what they accomplish.
Now is the time to fundamentally transform how schools address factors interfering with student success. Drawing on pioneering work from across the country, this webinar reframes efforts to address barriers to learning and teaching and re-engage disconnected students. The new framework emphasize unifying the fragmented practices and developing a comprehensive and equitable system of learning supports by redeploying and weaving together existing resources.
