2023 Emerging Leaders Academy

Description:

School districts depend on teacher leaders to facilitate and promote their vision for teaching and learning. Effective teacher leaders complement administrators by serving as a conduit for two‐way communication, exploring the utility of new ideas or processes, modeling new practices and providing support to their colleagues. They serve in formal and informal roles often with little preparation or support. 

Pennsylvania ASCD recognizes the power and potential of teacher leaders and has developed an opportunity to bring together new and veteran teacher leaders to deepen their understanding of what it means to be a leader and provide support on navigating their way through the challenges associated with their work. Cost of the 2023 Emerging Leader Academy:

• Cost is $799 and includes virtual sessions, 2 full days of meetings, lodging, if traveling more than 50 miles from the meeting location, meals, and program materials. PASCD membership and registration provided for the fall2023 PASCD conference 
• Act 48: 36 hours plus conference 

Audience:

• Department Chairs, Instructional Coaches, PLC Leaders, Grade-Level Leaders, and other aspiring and active Teacher Leaders.

Emerging Leaders Academy Dates and Times:

• Four live,  virtual sessions and 2 in-person sessions plus conference 

Session 1: Building Community and Defining Teacher Leadership 

• January 31, 2023
• 3-hour virtual session  - Session - 12 pm to 3 pm

Session 3: Building Leadership Skills 

• February 23, 2023
• 3-hour virtual session @ 12 pm to 3 pm

Session 3: Growing as a Leader 

• March  23, 2023
• 3-hour virtual session @ 12 pm to 3 pm

Session 4: Fostering a Collaborative Environment

• May 25, 2023
• 3-hour virtual session @ 12 pm to 3 pm

Session 5: Amplifying Your Impact 

• June 26 & 27, 2023
• Two days back-to-back
• Location: State College, PA
